Happy Taco Tuesday, well April 15 is tax day hope everyone got theirs done yesterday. It was pretty but today looks like rain.
March 29 is the date set aside annually to honor Vietnam Veterans. This year the Arkansas Society and the Harrison Colony Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, partnered with the Jordan Milam Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution, to honor their chapter members who were veterans of the Vietnam War and to properly welcome them home.
Nobel Peace Prize winner in philosophy Albert Schweitzer once wrote, “I don’t know what your destiny will be, but the one thing I do know: the only ones among you who will be really happy are those who have sought and found how to serve.” This particular brand of community dedication is remarkable, and few resemble the sentiment such as Senior Corporal Justin Ricketts of the Arkansas State Police Department.
Have you ever read or looked at a recipe and thought, "I have to try that?" Or, maybe you've eaten a dish and felt the need to ask for the recipe. Well, I do it quite often as I surf the Internet or browse Pinterest (yes, I have 8,000-plus recipes saved to my Pinterest account).
Landon Curtis grew up in this area, graduating from Valley Springs High School before finishing his education at Missouri State University. His wife, Allie, is also a Harrison native, and Curtis says they’re thankful to be raising their two boys in this community. One of his favorite quotes from the couple’s oldest son is, “Daddy cooks, Mommy cleans.” Curtis works for Anstaff Bank and serves on the board of the Buffalo National River Partners.
